Who Cares? Nach Cuma?
Aaron Sunderland Carey is a socially engaged artist whose work explores class, gender, power, and responsibility through collaborative processes and site-specific engagement, grounded in working-class experience and critical social inquiry. His current project, 'Nach Cuma? / Who Cares?' is being developed as part of the MA in Art and Social Action at NCAD.
The project examines care and responsibility in Irish working-class contexts, with a focus on race, class, and oppression. It began through exploratory workshops with older women from Bluebell and young men from the Rialto Youth Project, developing an ethical, care-based approach to engagement. A second phase, hosted at The LAB Gallery, will transform the gallery into a live social platform for further dialogue with multiple community groups. Through this process, Nach Cuma? seeks to build thoughtful, sustained conversations that resist tokenism and instead centre care, accountability, and lived experience.
