Portraits
My current practice is focused on contemporary portraiture, with a particular focus on studying vulnerabilities within the human figure and human condition. The work centres on lived experiences as a starting point. The subjects I paint are important to me: family, friends, and people around me.
Working through uncertainties during the painting process, I investigate the line between the figurative and abstraction in painting. The execution can become fragmented in nature, painting over areas that pushes the work to the point of undoing it. An action that exposes aspects of time and durational elements which become evident in the painting's form and style.
