World of Pain
These videos are tightly framed shots of friends, family, and acquaintances on a white backdrop. A soft song plays as they find themselves in 'The Museum', acting out the wordless scripts and gestures of observation, assessment, and acquisition. The museum's collection includes objects from 'The Táin' and 'The Tombs of Atuan', amongst others. This collection has been acquired through uncertain means and has been graciously opened for the filming of this video.
“This figure. This world. At times I feel like a fish, electroplated and incandescent. This form is unfamiliar and I am sore. My movements are searchlights through quivering leaves. I wonder, as I see things on my borders: like leaves, ripe fruit and laughter. Am I empty? I long to hit the ground running. Instead, I sit there all summer with my legs crossed. Staring blankly at the rain from the car, limber and tacit".
