After Darkness
My work focuses on worlding and alternative futures. I examine our relationship with time and the environment to depict what is left behind in a post-human world. Through environmental storytelling, I create intentional disturbances within these spaces and explore how each element is excavated or exhumed.
Drawing from the 'cthulhuscene', I evoke a sense of dread and foreboding to construct an idea of ecological catastrophe. I experiment with what it means to transport oneself into another world and to feel fully immersed through the use of mezzotints, sculpture, and projections.
Inspired by the technique of mezzotint, I reflect on the time and repetitive motion required to rock the copper plate and create the print, bringing light out of darkness in these uncanny images.
