NURTURE YOUR NATURE
The mediums of 16mm film and camcorder footage are adopted for the video pieces as a reflection of care, through mimicking the childhood connections and interaction to our natural surroundings in the laborious care needed to carry out the developmental processes. Set on sheets mimicking a shared, domestic, care-based, outside environment we ask: Why do we outgrow our active interest in nature?
Juxtaposing the urban East with the rural West of Ireland, it highlights the question of whether we can turn an idea of 'acceptable' greenspace into an evoked urgency of active care for an ecosystem we are cohabiting.
With soundscape recordings of the biophony, acting as a grounding technique in reminding ourselves that we are also part of these ecological systems, helps us reconnect with the childlike care, and curiosity needed to revive these living systems: our language and natural land.
Will you care for me, past convenience?
