Atmospherical Shifts
What serves a curtain that does not hide or move? How do you use three entrances that do not lead to something new? What is a set of stairs that does not hold and ends mid-air? Entropy. A shift. Wind, air, a gust. A change in the atmosphere. A movement, a moment frozen in time. Things that are, are not; are not yet.
'Atmospherical Shifts' references architectural structures and the air as allegories of power structures found in social, political, educational and military structures. The queering of the space repurposes a world not built for one, using acts of play and care to find new use for the objects and space to create a place.
Bethsebah is a Swiss German artist working in performance and installation. The work concerns generational invisible power structures, and the embodiment and materiality of oppressive systems, seeking questions of connectivity and security.
