Carol Casey
she/her
Breath
Carol Casey’s work is a meditation on breath, presence, and the interconnectedness of all things. Through a monochromatic drawing practice using pencil, ink, oil pastel, charcoal, and thread, she explores the tension between control and surrender, stillness and movement.
Influenced by yoga, breath work, and mindfulness, her process is deeply somatic, focusing on breath as both a physical act and an emotional register.
Casey responds to breath in real time or records her breathing during pranayama practices, allowing these rhythms to guide her hand. Each mark becomes a record of time, a reflection of breath’s expansion and contraction. In a fast-moving, often lonely world, her work creates space for stillness, deep looking, and offers a moment of quiet connection.
