Between Digital and Physical
This work explores the connection between digital and physical landscapes, focusing on digital immersion and the escape from daily life. My project captures the beauty of real world environments through video and audio captured during exploration in nature, contrasting these authentic landscapes with immersive worlds found in video games. This comparison questions the correlation between escapism and digital experiences.
The materials I gather from both the natural world and virtual environments inspire my pyrography work, bridging the tactile nature of traditional processes with the concepts of digital creation. Using Kizara wood paper, Irish ash, and digital printing, I connect organic materials with contemporary projection techniques.
My installation features pyrography, digital projections, and immersive soundscapes that blend my outdoor explorations and gaming experiences. This artwork blurs the lines between nature and technology, permanence and ephemerality, ultimately inviting viewers to reflect on how exploration offers an escape from everyday life.
