AdrenaPod
Adrenaline (epinephrine) autoinjectors are used to treat anaphylaxis during emergency allergic reactions. Existing designs on the market suffer from 3 key issues: usability, portability, and reusability. The adrenaline inside the autoinjector expires within 9 months and as a result the entire device must be replaced, leading to consistent disposal of entire unused devices.
The 'AdrenaPod' is designed as a better alternative which allows the user to replace the parts that need to be replaced (the vial and needle), and reuse the rest of the device, saving on costs and reducing unnecessary waste. Additionally, the AdrenaPod has a smaller form factor with additional affordances to encourage the user towards correct use, reducing the chance of accidental misinjection.
As someone who grew up with two brothers with allergies, I have seen firsthand the inconveniences of travelling with Epipens, and the regular replacement of the device, which inspired this project.
