A Pandæmonium of Stochastic Parrots on a Journey to Approximate intelligence: AI
Coming from over thirty years in the technology industry, I seek to manifest, like a shaman of old, the unseen spirits of technology that operate beneath the screens we interact with daily. These forces influence our perceptions, behaviours, and social connections, often without our conscious awareness.
My practice explores our evolving relationship with technology: its interfaces, boundaries, and the degree to which we truly understand them. Do we know what lies within the black rectangle in our pockets, the 'friend' we carry everywhere, even into bed?
This body of work delves into the domain of artificial intelligence, its promises, its marketing, current reality, and the potential implications it carries. For sale, a partially functioning intelligence machine, a stochastic parrot.
Using appropriated imagery, I create extruded silhouettes from paper and ink (the oldest tech) drawn within Google Slides to echo corporate aesthetics. With the assistance of AI, I also learned to build electronic totem sculptures using Arduino microcontrollers, merging ancient symbology with modern code.
