Submerge
'Submerge' is a collection of silk fashion textile prints inspired by the kaleidoscopic of worlds found deep underwater and the threats these habitats face. Coral reefs, some of the most colourful and diverse ecosystems, are suffering due to warming water temperatures, leading to coral bleaching and the loss of biodiversity.
Through intricate ink drawings and softly bled coloured backdrops, my prints celebrate the natural beauty of these underwater landscapes while also highlighting the fragility of these ecosystems. Inspired by the dresser crab’s attraction to shiny objects, I explored sustainable methods of creating a reflective effect within the collection. I sourced plant-based glitters and fabrics woven with metallic threads to achieve this.
I aim to create sustainable designs by focusing on longevity, crafting timeless, high-quality occasion wear garments that are treasured and passed down through generations.
