Dublin City Markets
'Dublin City Markets' is a communal vision for social connection and trading spaces, encompassing the renewal of existing built structures.
My research has indicated a desire for accessible, sheltered spaces that promote social engagement.Though the city has rapidly grown since the 1960’s, our markets reflect the opposite. Having one major market is not enough, multiple social spaces are needed to serve the growing cultural and social needs of the city's communities.
Most importantly, we need connection. Markets serve as spaces to talk, play and laugh, with people you know, and people you’ve yet to meet. These interactions strengthen our social connections and promote a sense of locality and culture.
This vision is highlighted by playful illustrations that advocate for the renewal and rejuvenation of social spaces for the city’s community. The accessible and playful nature of these works allows them to be universally understood and enjoyed.
