The Blood That Moves Us
Designed for moving bodies, this collection explores the dynamics of the body as it occupies and travels through space, tracing the cyclical, flowing movements of dancers and aerial performers. The disembodied garments exist as limp, passive objects until flesh, blood, and motion give life to fabric and thread.
The pieces stretch and cling, whilst simultaneously sculpting and expanding the human form. Through metamorphosis, they are uniquely shaped by the wearer, environment, and the time in which they are worn. Dressing becomes a fleeting performance, ephemeral, unrepeatable, living briefly in motion before dissolving.
All-red, this collection echoes the rhythm of blood as it flows through the body. Microscopic imaging revealed the organic patterns of blood cells, inspiring the shapes and textures within the work. Looking beyond its associations to disease and diagnosis, this work reclaims blood as vital and beautiful, symbolising life, connection, family, femininity, and strength.
