Spiral Beyond the Pale
Through a series of otherworldly illustrations, I have reimagined Western Ireland as a place haunted by forgotten folklore and elusive creatures born from the most natural shape there is—the spiral.
Rooted in a deep love for the landscape I grew up in, this work creates a fantasy world to lure urban dwellers out of their cities and into the wild in search of these mythical beings.
At the heart of this project is an illustrated scroll, chronicling four spiral beings that roam this fabled west. Accompanied by a poster campaign, it is designed to inspire the people of Dublin to engage with my brand of mythical tourism. A photographic record of every spiral that I saw in the wild, inspired a mixed-media animation, bringing an organic flow to my explorations.
This project is a call to unravel, to seek, and to spiral outward, towards something wilder, beyond the pale.
