When was the last time you felt safe?
My current body of work surrounds the genre of horror. Through the use of unsettling imagery and uncomfortable noises that give the viewer a sense of discontent, I attempt to replicate this feeling in the work.
By using the genre of horror, I tackle themes surrounding mental health, anxiety, and the feeling of being watched. Through the mediums of printmaking and sound, I put these themes into practice by producing a series of prints reminiscent of horror movie posters, taking influence from directors such as John Carpenter and James Wan.
The title When was the last time you felt safe? asks one question- have they ever felt 'safe'?
