Lana Zubović

The Necromancer
Concerned with processing unconscious information through the impulse of making, Lana aims to decipher the repressed and dormant elements of the psyche that remain unreachable from the perspective of ego consciousness. This focus informs and underpins the key ideas of her research and studio-based practice, drawing inspiration from C.G. Jung and his pivotal theory of the collective unconscious and archetypes.
Her research investigates the human ability to adopt and perpetuate transgenerational and intergenerational patterns of behaviour, information, and trauma. Themes of cultural identity, collective memory, and nostalgia emerge in her current project, particularly through archival objects, human hair, and beeswax, which evoke elements of rituals, the human body and human remains.
Print use transcends traditional materials, highlighting the tension between concealment and disclosure. This becomes present in three-dimensional works that emphasise limited access and withholding of certain information, inviting viewers to participate in something they are usually not welcome.
