Observation I (.II)
'Observation I (.II)' is a manipulated photo series of both digital and analogue photography that looks onto the camera’s evolving role in contemporary life. It examines the tension between being unknowingly watched and consciously posing, contrasting moments of unguarded observation with carefully curated self-presentation. The series reflects on the dual nature of modern monitoring—how we are not only constantly observed by external systems but also engage in our own forms of self-tracking through the technologies woven into our routines.
Through multi-perspective compositions, altered backgrounds, and the play between the presence and absence of the camera, Observation I (.II) invites viewers to consider what a “real” image looks like today, where the spontaneous is staged, the authentic constructed, the private made public, and the in-between increasingly blurred.
