Worn Stories
My project explores the idea that shoes are more than just functional objects; they are storytellers, cultural markers, and symbols of individual and collective experience.
At the heart of the project lies the story of Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon. Her shoes became a vehicle of social and gender emancipation; tools that allowed her to defy expectations and claim space.
A more playful yet powerful perspective is highlighted through a concept that celebrates the simple, shared rituals of walking, running, and moving together. It embraces the communal experience of discomfort; transforming pain into a point of connection.
Together, these narratives are housed in a modular typeface; 261 Sans as well as an identity for a speculative run club named Blister Club, revealing how shoes unite people through both activism and absurdity; bridging personal histories with collective memory.
