Six Silent Shifts
This body of work, 'Six Silent Shifts', comprises six ceramic heads, each representing a stage or symptom of perimenopause and menopause. Through form, surface, and expression, these sculptures reflect the emotional, physical, and cognitive changes women face—often in silence and without warning.
Each head captures a different aspect of the experience: the fog of confusion, the weight of anxiety, the loss of self, the heat of rage, the quiet grief of change, and, finally, the emergence of clarity. These forms are not just personal—they are collective, echoing the many women who, like me, were left to piece together the puzzle of their symptoms alone, mistaking them for stress or aging.
This work is a call for awareness. Had I known what to expect—had I been taught the truth about perimenopause—I could have avoided years of struggle. With knowledge comes power, and with hormone replacement.
