This work is about mixing two subjects which could not seem more opposing on the surface; that of womanhood and horror. The two however have much in common and have been intricately intertwined throughout history; horror media being inspired by womanhood in stories like Alien(1979) or Carmilla(1872), while the dangers of womanhood like sexual violence and being treated as less than human through out history is a living horror in itself.
This work specifically handles the topic of the objectification of women, being treated by men and the media like pieces of meat to be chosen, customised, used and then discarded. The varying states of 'freshness' of the meat are akin to women only being desirable in a certain time frame while they are young, akin to a 'best before' date being placed on them. This piece is the woman as her desirable elements, but not her as a person.
