'Omi Furniture' is a contemporary, high-end furniture brand rooted in cultural identity and refined craftsmanship. The brand was conceived as part of my major project, inspired by a desire to reconnect with my North African heritage, especially the traditional Arabic floor seating known as mejlises. These low-seated, communal arrangements stand in stark contrast to conventional European seating, which tends to emphasise elevation and structured back support. Through Omi, I aim to introduce this cultural nuance to a new context, fostering cross-cultural dialogue through furniture design.

The project began with a deep personal exploration of my origins, which was further enriched by a research trip that crystallised my vision. I became determined to reinterpret the mejlis tradition within a contemporary European setting, celebrating comfort, intimacy, and grounded living in a space where such design values are often overlooked.

Omi Furniture is defined by a minimalist yet luxurious aesthetic. It features premium materials such as walnut wood and bouclé fabrics, emphasising tactile richness and visual simplicity. Each piece is crafted not just for function but as a sculptural addition to the living space— furniture as art. The brand values quality, cultural authenticity, and the emotional resonance that design can bring into the home.

By blending heritage with modern sophistication, Omi Furniture invites users to experience a deeper sense of connection, both to the space they inhabit and the cultural stories embedded within the design.
