Wind on the Water
How do we see the wind? How do we feel the wind? How do we know the wind exists?
We feel it on our skin, but we see it in the shapes around us in our environment, particularly the water. Wind in boat sails fills out, allowing an inanimate object to move forward, creating curves out of triangular textile shapes. Wind on water creates curls and waves out of a liquid medium.
With these pieces, I want to explore how to capture the feeling and visuality of the dynamic shapes using anticlastic raising metal smithing techniques on 0.8mm metal sheet copper, aluminium, and silver, using anodising to colour aluminium and peen-hammered finish to the sail shapes.
