The Feeling Remains
Modern research has revealed that memory itself is far less reliable and much more malleable, highlighting that ‘recovered’ memories work extremely well to implant false memories to create realistic, recalled experiences of things that never happened. 'The Feeling Remains' is a collection of work influenced by this information.
Based on images from her childhood, Rosie’s paintings demonstrate the fragmented way the past presents itself to her as an artist, reflecting how she would view it if she could remember these moments, attempting to understand the inner, mental space. Using a limited colour palette, Rosie has brought her memories, or lack thereof, to life on the canvas. This collection of work aims to evoke feelings associated with confronting, temporary moments of vulnerability and change.
