Dissonance
My project is entitled 'Dissonance' and it explores the tension between the natural and artificial in the mundane. Dissonance investigates the impact of technology on the parental role, focusing on how it can disrupt children’s fundamental need for real connection. Drawing from personal experience, I examine how doom scrolling and curated digital lives have begun to outweigh our ties to heritage and meaningful labour.
This work is a response to the growing detachment I see in modern life- a call to arms, to upend what we've lost in our constant digital immersion. Through a broad range of materials including printmaking, painting, ink, sculpture, and textiles, I use contrast and texture to express these themes.
My goal is to provoke thought about the value of tangible, grounded relationships in a time when they’re increasingly replaced by screens and distractions. Dissonance is both a critique and a search for reconnection.
