Urban Tarnish
This collection is based on the changes happening around Dublin. The designs that have been finalised are made up of paintings, monoprints, and photography inspired by the decaying textures and plant life that can be found in derelict sites around the city. This imagery is factored into every design. The industrial surfaces are mainly painted in acrylic and oil, while the plant life is drawn and photographed.
The pieces are made from copper, linen, cotton, velvet, and other thick cotton-based textiles, using screen printing and digital textile printing to create this collection for an interior context. I have taken rough textures that fit well with the current industrial interior design trends, yet also have a feminine and delicate style.
The aesthetic is mainly centred around the beauty of erosion, to encourage consumers to keep their belongings for long periods of time, even after years of wear and tear.
