Urban Echoes
Stephanie Farrell is a printmaker whose work explores Dublin City’s urban landscape, especially its overlooked and aging architecture. She is particularly drawn to derelict buildings and fading facades—structures many ignore in daily life. Her practice focuses on the evolving patterns, textures, and lines that emerge as these sites decay, reflecting her personal connection to the city.
Raised in Citywest, a rapidly developing suburb, Stephanie experiences a striking contrast during her Luas commute into the historic centre. This daily journey, which feels like moving through time, has deepened her interest in Dublin’s layered urban identity.
For the past four years, she has focused on buildings along Thomas Street, documenting their quiet decline. These structures have become central to her creative process. Working primarily in monoprint, she uses Riso master sheets on wood to emphasise texture and impermanence. Her work preserves the forgotten corners of the city and the histories they contain.
