In Between
This womenswear collection reflects my personal exploration of multicultural identity. Born in Ireland to a Cypriot mother and Pakistani father, I’ve often grappled with a sense of cultural displacement- feeling like an outsider within each part of my heritage. Through this collection, I confront those feelings and begin to reclaim my identity by drawing inspiration from the elements of Irish, Pakistani, and Cypriot cultures that resonate most deeply with me.
I reference iconic garments such as the Irish GAA jersey, the communion dress, and traditional pieces like the shalwar and Cypriot lace. The use of shirting and stripes are familiar motifs in my life; it creates a visual contrast and acts as a unifying thread throughout the collection. This process of research and design has allowed me to redefine my sense of self and celebrate the complexity of my background.
