Natural Navigation
'Natural Navigation' explores a symbiotic relationship, where the contours of the land echo the rhythms of human connection, grounded in the coastal site of Baltray Haven. This personal place of refuge becomes a lens through which I examine a deeper connection to my father, and the intuitive language of the land that quietly informs our lives. Using digital prints, screen prints, an artist book and audio, the work invites viewers into a reflective space—one where the landscape becomes a witness to our relationships.
My research process involved recording the landscape through photography, audio, interviews and writing—an intuitive form of mapping the lived experience rather than traditional cartography. Materially and emotionally layered, the work reflects nature’s cycles of growth, erosion and return, exploring how place shapes our identity. The immersive exhibition encourages viewers to reflect on their own connection to the land and how it nurtures, transforms and holds us over time.
