Where the Moon’s Myths Feel Like Home
This project explores the symbolism of the moon—its mystery, nostalgia, and enduring presence across cultures, through a blend of astronomy, mythology, and landscape in multimedia collage: 35mm analogue imagery with found objects, digital astrophotography, and painted elements.
Inspired by 'Quiet Night Thoughts' by Bai Li, one of the most famous poems in Asia, the work reflects on the deep connection between the moon and the concept of home:
‘I lift my head and gaze at the bright moon,
I lower my head and think of home.’
Having lived away from Taiwan for over a decade, I find that the full moon always brings a sense of home, no matter where I am. Drawing from both Eastern and Western folklores, this project weaves together the themes of 'Quiet Night Thoughts' with five full moon-inspired myths, set against Irish landscapes that evoke my feelings of belonging.
